Vintage Rose Red-velvet Cake

Hi everyone, hope you are having a lovely day today.

I got busy baking a birthday cake for a friend in London, to deliver to her mum here in Nigeria ( YES!!! we take orders from people in the diaspora to be delivered to their loved ones in Lagos)

This red-velvet cake is 8 inches wide, layered and covered in a fluffy cream cheese frosting, decorated in vintage style, with red roses and red & white lace ribbon.

The roses give a very strong contrast
All boxed up :)

RED VELVET 101
A little history about red-velvet cakes. This is a southern american style buttermilk based chocolate cake, that originally got its reddish hue from the reaction between natural cocoa powder and the acidic ingredient found in buttermilk. However, today the reddish colour of the red-velvet cake is derived from red food colouring and this could be translated into other recipes, whoopie pies, pancakes, cheesecakes and so much more. Red-velvet cakes are usually frosted with cream cheese frosting for that added flavour, YUM YUM !!!!

What you derive from eating a red-velvet cake is a delicious and subtle flavoured cake; that's not quite chocolate and at the same time not quite vanilla!!!!

Sometimes I treat myself to something nice :)

LOOK OUT FOR OUR RED-VELVET CHEESECAKE!!!!
Can't wait to try this, indulging in two desserts at once, just how naughty can one get!!!! LOL

Have a beautiful day!!!!

WELCOME

A very warm welcome to my blog!!!

I am truly excited about this, because I seem to be backward technology wise :(

Sprinkles and cocktails is a cake and dessert catering company. We provide fruits, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and so much more, for your daily consumption and events. We create bespoke displays tailored to your events and requirements.

I will bring you up to speed with my journey so far as a cake baker.
As a creative spirit, I decided to go into cakes "especially cupcakes" because they are just the  cutest little things and all it takes is a combination of flour, sugar and everything nice and you turn out with something truly beautiful. My passion for desserts came along the way by demand and I am still developing my skills and building my dessert range.

I enjoy the kitchen a lot so occasionally you might find that I digress a little from the norm, because I am constantly experimenting. I will be happy to provide you with some of my recipes whenever I can.

My Very First Time :)
They don't look so pretty but I love the playful colours. I will have an attempt at a modern day version these. Lol

Not to bore you anymore, but I really look forward to having you here. Feel free to throw questions at me, you can also reach me on sprinklesandcocktails@gmail.com for orders and enquiries.

Thank you!!!!
